Pokémon celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026, and the Pokémon Trading Card Game is marking its own 30-year history with a packed release calendar. This Pokémon 30th anniversary cards 2026 release calendar tracks confirmed TCG products, promos, regional releases and major anniversary events. The centerpiece is Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration, launched worldwide on September 16, 2026, followed by additional English-language product waves on October 2, October 30 and November 6.

This guide uses official Pokémon sources wherever possible and separates products that are already released from products that are announced for future dates. Retailer-only rumors, unsupported print-run claims and unverified pull rates are left out.

Last updated: September 29, 2026.

Quick collector note

Not every Pokémon 30th anniversary TCG product is global. The Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration launched on September 16, 2026. Pokémon’s launch notice says the expansion became available at participating retailers worldwide that day; availability of a particular product still varies by region and store. The surrounding product line is much more regional: English-language markets, Japan, Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong all have products that are not identical.

Also, “anniversary product” does not automatically mean “limited print run”. Unless Pokémon officially confirms a production limit or distribution cap, collectors should treat “limited” as speculation rather than fact. Shiny cardboard is exciting enough without adding fake fireworks.

January 2026: Pikachu opens the anniversary year

The anniversary year starts with Pikachu, because of course it does. If Pokémon ever launches a toaster, Pikachu will probably be on the highest setting.

Pikachu at the Museum

One of the most interesting early anniversary promos is Pikachu at the Museum, an oversize Pokémon TCG promo card created for the Pokémon x Natural History Museum collaboration in London. The original ticketed pop-up was scheduled for January 26 to April 19, 2026, but the museum later extended the shop because of demand. As of this update, the pop-up remains open for a limited extended run, while the oversized Pikachu promo cards are out of stock and are no longer given to visitors.

The promo was originally a gift with an in-store purchase and was limited to 1 per customer. From January 30, the same oversize card also became available as a gift with purchase at select UK retailers. Pokémon Center did not offer the promo online.

Key details for collectors:

  • This is an oversize card, not a regular playable-size card.
  • It was tied to Pokémon’s first UK museum pop-up collaboration.
  • The museum distribution had a limit of 1 promo card per customer.
  • The museum now explicitly says the promo is out of stock.
  • The pop-up itself has outlived the original April 19 closing date.

This is not the same type of chase as a tournament card, but it has a strong story: Pikachu, a museum collaboration, a physical UK event and a distinctive display format. That is exactly the kind of combination collectors tend to remember.

Pokémon Day 2026 Collection

Also launching on January 30, 2026, the Pokémon Day 2026 Collection gives collectors another Pikachu-focused anniversary product. The box includes 1 foil Pikachu card with a Pokémon Day stamp, 1 Pokémon coin and 3 Pokémon TCG booster packs. Simple product, clean concept. Your wallet may still ask for legal representation.

March, June and August 2026: First Partner Illustration Collection

The First Partner Illustration Collection is one of the smartest ideas in the 30th anniversary calendar. It does not rely only on rare cards or competitive hype. It goes straight for nostalgia. Every Pokémon fan remembers their first partner. Some picked the strongest one. Some picked the cutest one. Some picked Charmander and then discovered Brock’s gym the hard way.

First Partner Illustration Collection 30th Anniversary – Pokémon TCG 2026 Series 1 2 and 3

Series 1 – March 20, 2026

First Partner Illustration Collection – Series 1 launched on March 20, 2026, featuring first partner Pokémon from Kanto, Sinnoh and Alola: Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle; Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup; Rowlet, Litten and Popplio. Each collection includes 3 of 9 promo cards, 2 Pokémon TCG booster packs and 1 sticker sheet. See the official Pokémon product page for full details.

Series 1 has especially strong collector appeal because Kanto starters are involved. Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle are not just Pokémon. They are childhood decision-making trauma in cardboard form.

Series 2 – June 19, 2026

First Partner Illustration Collection – Series 2 launched on June 19, 2026, featuring first partner Pokémon from Johto, Unova and Galar: Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile; Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott; Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble. This wave has strong appeal for Johto fans – Cyndaquil and Totodile still have a very loyal following, and Johto nostalgia is one of the safest buttons Pokémon can press.

Series 3 – August 7, 2026

First Partner Illustration Collection – Series 3 launched on August 7, 2026, featuring first partner Pokémon from Hoenn, Kalos and Paldea: Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip; Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie; Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly. Pokémon now lists Series 3 as available through Pokémon Center and retailers that carry Pokémon TCG products. Each collection uses the same format as the first two waves: a promo pack containing 3 of 9 illustration rare-style first partner cards, 2 additional booster packs and a sticker sheet. See the official Series 3 product page.

Hoenn gives the wave classic collector appeal, Froakie brings Greninja energy, and Paldea keeps the product relevant for newer fans who entered Pokémon through Scarlet and Violet.

Mainland China: separate First Partner anniversary releases

Mainland China received its own three-part First Partner anniversary series. These products are not identical to the English First Partner Illustration Collections. Each Simplified Chinese box contains 1 random special illustration holo card from 9 designs, an acrylic magnetic display frame and one 5-card booster pack.

  • Vol. 1 – March 20, 2026: Kanto, Sinnoh and Alola. Official product page.
  • Vol. 2 – June 19, 2026: Johto, Unova and Galar. Official product page.
  • Vol. 3 – August 7, 2026: Hoenn, Kalos and Paldea. This third wave was announced after the previous version of this article and has now released. Official product page.

For collectors outside China, the main point is the regional difference. The Chinese boxes use a one-card random promo format plus a magnetic display frame, while the English collections contain 3 of 9 promos per promo pack and two additional booster packs.

September 16, 2026: Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration arrives

Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration launched on September 16, 2026. Pokémon’s launch notice confirms the expansion is available at participating retailers worldwide. It describes an all-foil set and says each booster includes one of 30 Pikachu rare cards.

Regional products and local stock differ, so check the relevant regional product page before shopping.

What is inside a 30th Celebration booster pack?

Each 30th Celebration booster pack contains 6 foil cards: 5 foil cards, including 1 of 30 unique Pikachu illustrations, plus 1 foil Basic Energy card. Every card in the pack is foil. That makes the 30 Pikachu cards a built-in mini-collection, with one guaranteed in every pack.

Futuristic Rare cards

30th Celebration introduces Futuristic rare, abbreviated FUR in official Asian-language product materials. Pokémon’s first highlighted FUR cards are Mew ex and Mewtwo ex, both illustrated by Japanese graphic artist YOSHIROTTEN. Pikachu ex promo cards using the same futuristic visual language also appear in regional premium products.

Classic Collection cards revisit Pokémon TCG history

The expansion also revisits cards from the game’s past. Pokémon’s English product showcase calls these cards the Classic Collection, while official Japanese and Chinese materials describe 30 cards representing the TCG’s history. Officially shown examples include Charizard and Pikachu & Zekrom-GX.

Standard legality: Pokémon states that the historical cards reprinted in special anniversary treatment are not legal in the current Standard format. They can still be used in formats where the original print of that card is permitted. In other words, the anniversary treatment does not make an old card Standard-legal again.

What we know about the 30th Celebration card list

Pokémon’s June 30 Poster Collection announcement says its poster features images of more than 160 cards from 30th Celebration, and official card previews were still being published in August. This guide does not invent a final set total or publish an unofficial “complete checklist” as fact. The confirmed structural facts are the 30 guaranteed-per-pack Pikachu cards, the new FUR rarity, and the Classic Collection component.

English-language 30th Celebration products: four official waves

The biggest change since the previous update is that the English-language product line is no longer a mystery. Pokémon’s June 30 showcase officially dated four waves of products.

Preorder status: Pokémon Center Support lists the 30th Celebration Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box in its preorder shipment table for the US, Canada and UK, with estimated shipment in mid-September 2026. That confirms preorder handling for this product, but it does not mean new orders are continuously open or that stock is available at every moment. Check Pokémon Center’s current preorder information.

October 2 wave

  • Binder Collection: 9-pocket anniversary binder and 5 booster packs.
  • Booster Bundle: 6 booster packs.
  • Mini Tins: 2 booster packs, sticker sheet and matching art card. Pokémon says 10 artworks combine into two larger day-and-night images.

October 30 wave

30th Celebration Battle Deck – Espeon ex / Umbreon ex: each product is an all-foil 60-card deck with a deck box, coin and playmat. The Espeon ex deck includes an illustration rare-style Victini, while the Umbreon ex deck includes an illustration rare-style Zeraora.

November 6 premium wave

  • Ultra-Premium Collections – Day & Night: two versions. Each includes a Pikachu ex promo plus Espeon ex or Umbreon ex, play accessories, 29 regular 30th Celebration booster packs and 1 Classic Collection booster pack containing 3 Classic Collection cards.
  • Figure Collection – Mew & Mewtwo: Mew or Mewtwo foil promo, matching oversize card, matching figure and 5 booster packs.

These products were officially announced and officially dated. The September 16 expansion has launched, but this global notice does not verify each regional launch-day product or store stock. Check regional product pages; the October and November product waves remain scheduled.

Japan: 30th Celebration booster, premium decks and Futuristic Box

Japan has three major 30th Celebration products officially dated for September 16, 2026, plus nine regional card sets on October 16. The official Japanese 30th anniversary product hub lists the full lineup.

MEGA Expansion Pack 30th CELEBRATION

The Japanese MEGA Expansion Pack 30th CELEBRATION contains 6 foil cards per pack, randomly inserted. It launches September 16. Pokémon Center Online used a lottery application window from August 10 to August 14 for this product, so that particular application period has already closed.

30th CELEBRATION Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon

The Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon includes two ready-to-play 60-card decks built around Espeon ex and Umbreon ex, plus damage counters and markers, two Pokémon coins, a paper playmat, a metal double deck case and guides. It is officially dated for September 16.

30th CELEBRATION FUTURISTIC BOX

The 30th CELEBRATION FUTURISTIC BOX includes two Pikachu ex promo cards in FUR-style treatment, plus 64 sleeves, two Pokémon coins, 12 metal damage-counter dice, metal poison and burn markers, a deck case, display frame, rubber playmat and storage cases. It is also officially dated for September 16. In collector terms, that is not a box. That is a trap with very nice packaging.

October 16, 2026: Japanese 30th CELEBRATION Card Sets

Japan also gets nine 30th CELEBRATION Card Sets on October 16, 2026. Each set is based on one main Pokémon region and contains 3 holo promo cards, 2 30th Celebration booster packs and a paper display stand designed for 3 cards. The nine sets cover:

  • Kanto: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle
  • Johto: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile
  • Hoenn: Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip
  • Sinnoh: Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup
  • Unova: Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott
  • Kalos: Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie
  • Alola: Rowlet, Litten, Popplio
  • Galar: Grookey, Scorbunny, Sobble
  • Paldea: Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly

This gives collectors a clean regional structure that is easy to collect and display. Each set covers a generation, every fan has a favorite generation, and there are nine of them to chase. The math practically does itself.

Japan also has official 30th Celebration events

Pokémon’s Japanese 30th anniversary site has dated two major Pokémon Card Game 30th CELEBRATION EVENT stops:

  • Tokyo: October 25, 2026 at Makuhari Messe.
  • Osaka: October 31 and November 1, 2026 at Intex Osaka.

Pokémon says further event details will be announced later, so this guide does not speculate about entry requirements, exclusive cards or event promos that have not been confirmed. See the official event page.

Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese 30th Celebration releases

Taiwan and Hong Kong: Traditional Chinese products

The Traditional Chinese 30th CELEBRATION expansion launches in Taiwan and Hong Kong on September 16, 2026, with 6 foil cards per pack. Official regional Pokémon pages also confirm several products for the same date:

  • 30th CELEBRATION Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon
  • 30th CELEBRATION FUTURISTIC BOX
  • 30th CELEBRATION First Partner Special Card Set, containing 1 random regional promo pack with 3 cards from one of 9 region groups, plus 4 booster packs
  • 30th CELEBRATION First Partner card-frame keychain set

See the official Taiwan 30th Celebration page and the official Hong Kong page for regional product information.

Mainland China: more products were announced in August

Mainland China receives the Simplified Chinese 30th Celebration booster and the 30th Celebration Futuristic Gift Box on September 16. The gift box includes two FUR-style Pikachu ex collector promos and a large accessory package.

On August 18, Pokémon China announced additional 30th anniversary products for the same September 16 date:

  • 30th Celebration Coin Set: 3 six-card 30th Celebration booster packs and 2 Pikachu-themed coins. There are 30 coin designs, each made in 4 finishes; Pokémon states a 99:1 production ratio between regular and hidden finishes. A 30-slot coin display frame, a two-player rubber playmat and a 360-pocket anniversary binder are sold separately. Official announcement.
  • 30th Anniversary Pikachu Figure Set: 1 random Pikachu figure from 13 designs, a matching Pokémon card and 1 six-card 30th Celebration booster pack. Official announcement.
  • 30th Celebration Charizard Collector Figure Box: a Charizard figure, an oversize Charizard card and 15 30th Celebration booster packs. Official announcement.

These are region-specific products. They should not be described as part of the English-language retail lineup unless Pokémon separately announces equivalent products for those markets.

Europe and regional availability

For Europe, September 16 remains the official 30th Celebration target date, but local stock timing and product availability can still vary by country, distributor and retailer. Pokémon Center serves selected markets rather than all of Europe, so collectors should distinguish the official release date from the date a specific local store actually receives stock.

One useful concrete data point: Pokémon Center Support currently lists the 30th Celebration Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box in its preorder schedule for the US, Canada and UK, with estimated shipping in mid-September 2026. That does not establish preorder availability in every European country or guarantee that the item is still orderable at the time you read this.

What remains unconfirmed as of August 23, 2026?

The old version of this article listed ETBs, Ultra-Premium Collections and Booster Bundles as unconfirmed. That is no longer correct. Pokémon officially announced all of them on June 30.

What still belongs in the unconfirmed pile:

  • McDonald’s 2026 anniversary cards: no official 30th Celebration McDonald’s card program was found in the sources reviewed for this update.
  • A 30th Celebration Collector Chest: it does not appear in Pokémon’s official June 30 product showcase.
  • Exact print-run figures: Pokémon has not published production totals for the anniversary products covered here.
  • Official pull rates: do not treat retailer claims, opening samples or social-media spreadsheets as manufacturer odds.
  • Retailer-only products or dates without a Pokémon announcement: they remain outside this confirmed calendar until an official source supports them.

The practical rule is simple: an early store listing can be useful evidence that something may be coming, but it is not the same thing as an official Pokémon announcement.

Which 30th anniversary releases look most interesting?

The biggest collector attention will likely concentrate on six parts of the calendar.

1. Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration. This is the main anniversary expansion, so it will naturally dominate. All-foil packs, 30 Pikachu cards, Futuristic rare cards and the Classic Collection give it several different collecting hooks.

2. The 30 Pikachu cards. One appears in every booster pack, but there are 30 different illustrations to complete. That combination of guaranteed inclusion and set-building pressure is almost suspiciously efficient at turning binders into projects.

3. Elite Trainer Boxes. The regular ETB has 9 packs and a full-art Nidorina promo. The Pokémon Center version has 11 packs and two Nidorina promos, including one with a Pokémon Center logo. For sealed collectors, that difference matters.

4. Ultra-Premium Collections – Day & Night. Each November 6 UPC contains 29 regular booster packs plus a separate Classic Collection booster with 3 Classic Collection cards, along with Pikachu ex and either Espeon ex or Umbreon ex promos. That makes the UPC one of the most content-heavy English-language anniversary products.

5. First Partner Illustration Collection. Easy to understand and full of nostalgia. Pokémon cards built around starter Pokémon are collector-friendly because every generation has its loyalists.

6. Region-specific premium products. Japan’s FUTURISTIC BOX and regional Card Sets, Mainland China’s Charizard collector figure box and Pikachu figure products, and the Traditional Chinese First Partner products all give sealed product collectors variants that do not simply duplicate the English product line.

Pikachu at the Museum also deserves a separate mention. It is an oversize UK promo rather than a normal playable card, but the collaboration has a clear story and the museum has confirmed that the promo is now out of stock.

If you want to protect what you pull from September onwards, the how to store trading cards guide on Cards Mania is worth reading before the releases land. And if you are thinking about submitting anniversary pulls for grading, the card value and collecting guide covers when grading makes sense and what to expect.

Final collector takeaway

The Pokémon 30th anniversary TCG calendar is no longer a vague list of “coming soon” products. As of August 23, the first three First Partner Illustration Collection waves have released, the Natural History Museum Pikachu promo is out of stock, and Pokémon has published a detailed four-wave English 30th Celebration product schedule running from September 16 through November 6.

If you collect Pikachu, 2026 is going to be expensive. If you collect starter Pokémon, the First Partner Illustration Collections and Japanese Card Sets are the cleanest generation-by-generation projects. If you collect sealed premium products, the Pokémon Center ETB, Day & Night Ultra-Premium Collections and regional FUTURISTIC BOX products will probably receive the most attention.

The best strategy is still simple: follow official announcements, compare regional releases and avoid paying rumor prices for products that have not been formally announced. For broader context on what makes Pokémon TCG products collectible, the why Pokémon cards are booming post and the Pokémon cards history and value guide on Cards Mania are both worth a read.

Pokémon is turning 30. The nostalgia is real, the cards are shiny, and Pikachu has once again found a way to sit directly on the collector economy.
